05/06/2015 (Agence Europe) - Schulz says defending Iraq's cultural heritage is common challenge. On Thursday 5 June, European Parliament President Martin Schulz said he believed that the defence of Iraq's heritage - “the cradle of the history of humanity” - was a common challenge. “Defending this heritage is a common challenge”, he said at the end of a meeting in Brussels with the leader of the Iraqi Parliament, Saleem Al Gburi. In Al Gburi's opinion, “Islamic State terrorism is a terrorism that not only concerns Iraq or the Iraqi people, but is an attack against us all”. He stated that “Islamic State is not only the enemy of man and of the citizen, but also of civilisation and of the heritage of the whole world”. “We want to fight against Islamic State, to wipe it out, making cultural, security and military war with it, but also through a political solution. We will ask for the world's help”, he added - without giving further details on the nature of this aid. (CCG)
