Brussels, 05/06/2015 (Agence Europe) - On Friday 5 June, the Council decided to extend the assets freeze for three of the four people targeted by the restrictive measures linked to the embezzlement of Ukrainian state funds. The measures were applicable until 6 June 2015.
On 5 March 2015, the European restrictive measures linked to the freezing and recovery of embezzled Ukrainian state funds - measures which were initially adopted on 5 March 2014 - were extended by 12 months for 14 people, and by 3 months for 4 other people. The measures for the 4 people were therefore coming to their end (see EUROPE 11268). The Council has decided to extend them by 9 months for 2 people, and by 4 months for the third. “This decision was taken in the light of ongoing judicial proceedings in Ukraine with regard to these persons”, the Council press release states.
There are now 17 people subject to the EU measures concerning the freezing and recovery of embezzled assets. The legal acts will be published in the Official Journal of 6 June. (Camille-Cerise Gessant)
