On Tuesday 26 May, the European Commission announced that it has approved the addition of a new agricultural product to the list of protected geographical indications (PGI). Pastel de Chaves is a half-moon shaped, thinly-layered puff pastry filled with a special preparation of minced veal. The production method used is based on the know-how developed over the years by the bakers of Chaves, Portugal. (Lionel Changeur)
