Brussels, 22/05/2015 (Agence Europe) - On Friday 22 May, the European Commission announced that it was to make available on the same day almost all of pre-financing for the Youth Employment Initiative (YEI) (see EUROPE 11317).
This approach shows the “urgency” that we are facing and the “commitment of the EU to help young people get into work”, the European Commissioner for Employment, Marianne Thyssen, stated in a press release. She went on to say: “Member states will now be able to finance projects rapidly, as the amount of pre-financing will be increased 30-fold. Thereby, member states will be able to help up to 650,000 young people find jobs, apprenticeships, traineeships or continued education”. (Mathieu Bion)
