Consultation of sector on future technical measures

Brussels, 22/05/2015 (Agence Europe) - The new common fisheries policy (CFP), which has already come into force, carries with it a review of technical measures. The European Commission will bring forward proposals in autumn 2015. The aim is to simplify and to regionalise technical measures and to adapt them to the objectives of the new CFP.

Against this background of the overhaul of the whole framework of CFP technical measures, MEP Alain Cadec, who chairs the European Parliament's fisheries committee, wants the industry to be consulted so that possible reforms can be identified with fishermen.

He has prepared a questionnaire that aims to identify difficulties that can be laid at the door of current European regulations and to determine where improvements can be made in technical measures.

The questionnaire has been sent to organisations in France and to Europêche. Responses have to be sent by 30 June 2015. (Lionel Changeur)
