Bank supervisory fees total €326 million in 2014-5

Brussels, 29/04/2015 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday 29 April, the European Central Bank announced that the fees to be recovered from banks for the cost of its prudential supervision of the eurozone banking sector under the supervision arm of Banking Union will total €326 million for 2014-2015.

The 123 big banks in the eurozone that are directly supervised by the ECB will pay a total of €289.7 million (89% of the total). The remaining €36.3 million (11% of the total) will be paid by the 3,500 smaller banks that are supervised by national supervision bodies, explains the ECB in a press release.

At bank level, the fees will be calculated according to a bank's importance and risk profile. All eurozone banks have to supply data for calculating their fees by 1 July 2015. The total fees for each bank will then be allocated and invoices sent out in late 2015. (Mathieu Bion)
