Brussels, 17/04/2015 (Agence Europe) - Annual inflation in the eurozone stood at -0.1% in March 2015, higher than February's -0.3%, according to the final figures published by the EU's statistical office, Eurostat, on Friday 17 April.
Annual inflation in the EU as a whole also stood at -0.1% in March 2015, compared with -0.3% in February.
In March, negative annual inflation was seen in twelve member states, viz.: -1.9% in Greece, -1.4% in Cyprus, -1.2% in Poland, -1.1% in Bulgaria and Lithuania, -0.8% in Spain, -0.5% in Hungary, -0.4% in Slovenia and Slovakia, -0.3% in Ireland and the Netherlands and -0.1% in Belgium. Six member states saw no rise in prices (Estonia, France, Croatia, Italy, Finland and the United Kingdom). The highest annual inflation was in Austria (0.9%), Romania (0.8%) and Sweden (0.7%).
The biggest factors behind rising inflation were eating out (+0.11%), rent (+0.09%) and tobacco (+0.07%). Transport fuel (-0.44%), liquid fuel (-0.16%) and telecoms (-0.06%) saw the sharpest fall in prices. (Mathieu Bion)
