Wolf Klinz will defend the EU's views at the IASB

Brussels, 17/04/2015 (Agence Europe) - The new chair of the advisory group on financial reporting in Europe (EFRAG), Wolf Klinz, will be making a clear case for the EU's views at the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB), which monitors accounting standards at international level.

I see this post as a political one,” said Klinz on Tuesday 14 April at a hearing of the European Parliament's economic and monetary affairs committee, reports Reuters. He said the EFRAG “should become the uncontested European voice in the international accounting debate.” The former German liberal MEP said: “I do see increasingly the willingness to, if need be, defend more openly, directly, the European positions,” adding: “Therefore in the future we will see differences between the proposal that comes from the IASB and the proposed final standard that will be applied in Europe. That will be the effect due to the work of EFRAG.” (Mathieu Bion)
