20/03/2015 (Agence Europe) - Poland to receive €221 million from cohesion fund. On Thursday 19 March, the European Commission approved joint funding of three programmes which aim to improve the quality of transport in Poland. These projects are: 1) the purchase of 12 five-part electrical multiple units to operate rail passenger services in the Warsaw agglomeration (€40 million from the cohesion fund, out of a total cost of €61.5 million); 2) the purchase of 19 electrical multiple units for rail inter-connections in four regions in the south of the country (€43.5 million from the cohesion fund, total cost €66.9 million); and 3) modernisation of a tram line in the centre of the country (€127.7 million from the cohesion fund out of a total cost of €177.8 million).
