Brussels, 30/01/2015 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday 29 January, the European Union welcomed the announcement of an agreement by the Bosnia-Herzegovina presidency on the written commitment to undertake reforms as part of the EU accession process, and the EU called on “all party leaders to confirm their explicit support to this written commitment”.
“The text of the written commitment (…), which consolidates input provided also by party leaders, is consistent with the requirements set out in the conclusions of the Foreign Affairs Council of 15 December 2014”, said the spokesperson for High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini, who believed that the written commitment established a “clear path for Bosnia and Herzegovina”. “Following completion of the domestic procedure, including adoption by the Bosnia-Herzegovina Parliament, the EU will respond as outlined in the Council conclusions”, Mogherini's spokesperson stated. According to the conclusions, once written commitment has been agreed by the presidency, signed by the political leaders and approved by the Parliament, the Council will pronounce the entry into force of the stabilisation and association agreement (SAA) between Bosnia-Herzegovina and the EU.
The EU reiterates its strong commitment to the EU perspective for Bosnia-Herzegovina, Mogherini's spokesperson stated.
