Brussels, 30/01/2015 (Agence Europe) - European Commissioner for Climate Action and Energy Miguel Arias Canete is travelling to Washington on Sunday 1 February for a three-day visit and meetings with several members of the US administration - including Deputy Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz, Special Envoy for Climate Change Todd Stern, Trade Representative Mike Froman and Deputy National Security Advisor Caroline Atkinson.
The objective is to discuss energy security developments in general and within the G7, transatlantic cooperation on energy, international energy trade, and the place of energy in the transatlantic trade and investment partnership (TTIP) negotiations, as well as the negotiations for a new international climate agreement ahead of the UN conference in Paris at the end of the year.
Canete will also make a speech on energy security and global energy prices to the Atlantic Council in Washington on 3 February. (EH)
