Brussels, 17/12/2014 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday 16 December, the European Parliament approved four requests for earmarking European Globalisation Adjustment Funds (EGF) to France, Greece, Italy and Poland, for a total amount of €35.5 million.
MEPs therefore, by a very large majority, approved the four requests for activating the EGF that the European Commission presented at the end of October and the middle of November last (EUROPE 11186 and 11195). The largest amount earmarked will go to the 3,886 workers made redundant by the airline, Air France. This is a rather unusual amount because it is almost €26 million. The other requests for EGF support are lower: €6.44 million for the 600 workers made redundant by the large chain store Fokas in Greece; - the 777 workers made redundant by Fiat in Poland (€1.26 million) and €1.89 million for Italy to help the 608 workers made redundant by Whirlpool Europe S.r.l.
