Brussels, 11/12/2014 (Agence Europe) - On 11 December, Maja Kocijancic, the spokesperson for High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini, announced that Mogherini will go to Ukraine on the evening of 16 December. According to a European source, Mogherini will be there on 16-17 December.
Kocijancic stated that Mogherini is expected to meet Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko and representatives from the government, parliament and civil society in order “to continue talks on what the EU can do to find a solution to the crisis in Ukraine and to support the necessary reforms”.
Mogherini is to meet Ukraine's Prime Minister, Arseniy Yatsenyuk, the previous day at the EU-Ukraine Association Council in Brussels.
Ukraine will be on the agenda of the Foreign Affairs Council on 15 December, and will also be discussed at the European Council dinner on 18 December. The heads of state and government are expected to hail the new Ukrainian government and its commitment to making reforms, and they are once again expected to state their concerns about the situation in the east of Ukraine.
