Navracsics says ICT must help education

Brussels, 11/12/2014 (Agence Europe) - On 11 December, Commissioner Tibor Navracsics made a speech during the high-level “Education in the Digital Era” conference at which he said that they needed to provide young people with digital skills. He criticised the budget cuts carried out by too many member states in the education field and hoped that Jean-Claude Juncker's investment plan would help the sector by setting up innovative projects that prioritised digital technologies in schools. The Commissioner said, however, that ICT was no “magical solution” and would not produce beneficial effects without a commitment from well-trained teachers and trainers whose value is appropriately acknowledged.
