Brussels, 26/11/2014 (Agence Europe) - The Commission sent Romania a reasoned opinion on Wednesday 26 November formally requesting that it ensure full compliance with EU rules (Regulation 994/2010/EC) on security of natural gas supply.
This regulation seeks to ensure that the member states are well prepared to deal with possible supply disruptions. To this end, they have to prepare emergency and preventive action plans and enable bi-directional gas flow across borders.
Romania has failed to notify to the Commission of the adoption of a preventive action plan and an emergency plan, which had to be agreed by 3 December 2012. Neither has Bucharest informed it of its decisions on bi-directional gas flows, decisions which had to be taken by 3 September 2012. Romania has two months to comply with its obligations and avoid possible referral to the Court of Justice. (EH)
