Brussels, 04/11/2014 (Agence Europe) - A regional conference, Governance & Financing for the Mediterranean Water Sector, was held in Athens from 28 to 30 October 2014. According to a press release, it brought together some one hundred water specialists and Mediterranean region players from both within and outside the water sector.
The conference aimed to take stock of the advancement of on-going projects in Jordan, Tunisia and Palestine. The UfM (Union for the Mediterranean) assistant secretary general for water and the environment stressed the need “to enhance regional cooperation in order to improve institutional capacity and response to water shortages and to address the clear need for financial stability” (our translation).
