Brussels, 04/11/2014 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday 4 November, Catherine Ray, the spokesperson for High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini, announced that the next meeting on the Iranian nuclear programme between the E3+3 (Germany, France, United Kingdom and China, United States, Russia) and Iran will take place in Vienna on 18 November.
Before this meeting, the former high representative, Catherine Ashton (who is continuing to work on an agreement on the Iranian nuclear programme), will meet the E3+3 political leaders in Vienna on 7 November. She will then visit Oman on 9-10 November in order to meet US Secretary of State John Kerry.
The last meeting between the E3+3 and Iran in September did not bring about any significant progress (see EUROPE 11165). The provisional agreement on the Iranian nuclear programme comes to an end on 24 November. “Catherine Ashton is determined to come to an agreement by this date. We are all focusing on this date”, Ray stated. (CG)
