Brussels, 04/11/2014 (Agence Europe) - The FEMIP (Facility for Euro-Mediterranean Investment and Partnership), an EIB instrument to finance projects in the southern and eastern Mediterranean, held its annual meeting in Naples on Thursday 30 October. Unusually, there was no parallel meeting of economy and finance ministers of the countries of the region. No reason was given.
For the EIB, “2014 marks the beginning of a new period of EU cooperation with Mediterranean partner countries”. It promises that it “will invest some €10 billion in the region over the next seven years”. The EIB states that “we will use this period to further strengthen our activities as the region's large-scale financier, supporting long-term investments in both the public and private sectors”. (FB)
