Brussels, 10/10/2014 (Agence Europe) - The national indicative programmes for cooperation development between the EU and Belize, Lesotho, Togo and Zambia for the period from 2014 to 2020 were to be signed on Friday 10 October by European Development Commissioner Andris Piebalgs and the representatives of these four countries, on the sidelines of the annual meetings of the World Bank and the IMF in Washington.
These programmes, which will be financed by the 11th European development fund (EDF), establish the strategy and the cooperation priorities for EU aid with each of these ACP (Africa, Caribbean, Pacific) countries. They will receive a total envelope of €869 million from the EDF's seven-year budget of €30.5 billion.
For each of these four countries, the aid will focus on three priority areas identified in close cooperation with national authorities. Belize will receive €27 million for energy, health and public financial management; Lesotho will get €142 million for water, energy and governance; Togo €216 million for state consolidation and security, water and sanitation, and energy; Zambia €484 million for energy, agriculture and governance.
