10/10/2014 (Agence Europe) - Proposal for further use of EGF in Greece. On Tuesday 7 October, the European Commission proposed to provide Greece with aid amounting to €7.2 million from the European globalisation adjustment fund (EGF). The goal of the project financed, the total cost of which is €12 million, is to help the 761 former workers of the ready-to-wear chain Sprider Stores back into work. Most were made redundant in Attica and Central Macedonia as a result of the economic downturn which has hit Greece. The measures envisaged by Greece will also include the opportunity offered by the new EGF to extend support to 505 young people not in employment, education or training. (JK)
