Brussels, 15/09/2014 (Agence Europe) - The online public consultation launched by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) to gather as many comments as possible on its vision for greater openness and transparency in its scientific processes has been extended by a month, until 15 October, the Authority has announced.
EFSA aims over the coming years to increase civil society's stake in its work. The working document Transformation to an Open EFSA put out to consultation covers key issues such as data access and increased public engagement. All stakeholders - EFSA's national partners, scientific advisory bodies, civil society organisations, experts and practitioners in the fields of open government and open science - are invited, if they have not already done so, to submit their comments online.
The deadline extension will allow interested parties more time to fully consider and comment on the Authority's vision. The input received from stakeholders will inform finalisation of a new Open EFSA policy and follow-up plan.
Openness and transparency are values at the heart of the reform undertaken by EFSA over the last few years to promote public confidence in its work. (AN)
