Brussels, 09/09/2014 (Agence Europe) - On Monday 8 September, Commissioner for Enlargement Stefan Füle met with Azeri Minister of Education Mikayil Jabbarov in Baku to discuss reforms and modernisation of the education sector in Azerbaijan. The commissioner announced a new EU programme to help the country improve the quality of and better manage its education system. The programme will receive funding of €19 million and will focus on higher education and vocational training. It will also emphasise civic participation and better social inclusion. The commissioner said that modernising Azeri higher and professional education was the best way to improve access to jobs and mobility. The reforms will also help improve the attractiveness of the education system in the country, as well as national and international recognition of qualifications and research, explained the European Commission.
