Brussels, 09/09/2014 (Agence Europe) - MEPs on the new internal market committee (IMCO) at the European Parliament have decided to pick up discussions on seven flagship dossiers where they had been left at the end of the last Parliament. During their first meeting on Monday 8 September, they decided by 28 votes to 2 to base their work on the reports already adopted during in first reading on eCall, product safety and market supervision, access to public bodies' internet sites, package tours, network security and information, and laws on customs fraud.
These dossiers had, nonetheless, received plenary approval, in order to consolidate all that had been done before the European elections. By deciding to proceed in this way, MEPs have made their task easier, because they will not have to begin work from scratch, which will also considerably speed up adoption of the texts. (MD)
