Brussels, 05/09/2014 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday 4 September, Tunisia's Prime Minister Mehdi Jomaâ informed Tunisian media about his expectations for the Friends of Tunisia conference, which will take place in Tunis on Monday 8 September. Many countries and international institutions - including the European Union and European Investment Bank - have been invited to the event.
We do not want donations but investments, was Jomaâ's main message. In the proposals reported by Tunisian media, he noted that “all the experiences of donor conferences have failed. We want a country that works and investors that believe in it”. Tunisia is “able to succeed if we all unite around the same core values, if we preserve our model of society, and if we start working seriously. We have every chance of getting over this difficult time”, he said. “We want to move on from being a planner State to a regulator State, and this is what we explain in the strategic note that we will give to the participants” in Monday's meeting, which is named Invest in Tunisia: Start-up Democracy.
