Greek authorities pave way for €1 billion from EFSF

Brussels, 30/07/2014 (Agence Europe) - In the evening of Tuesday 29 July, the Greek authorities submitted to the national parliament a package of legislation covering milestones required before the European financial stability fund (EFSF) pays out aid of €1 billion. The Greek parliament is expected to approve the package of measures by 8 August. The most likely scenario mentioned by two separate eurozone sources is that a telephone conference of the Euro Working Group will be held in August to give the go-ahead for disbursement. In mid-September, the fifth troika mission will take place in Athens, following a meeting in Paris between the Greek government and the troika. The European Commission said it was Greece that had requested the meeting in Paris and it refused to comment on why the request had been made for the talks to take place in the French capital (see EUROPE 11131), where none of the parties is headquartered.
