Brussels, 04/07/2014 (Agence Europe) - The week commencing Monday 7 July will be an intense one for president-elect of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker (Luxembourg), who will be grilled by the European Parliament's political groups before being assured of his election in Strasbourg on 15 July. On Tuesday 8 July, Juncker will be heard by the S&D, ECR and ALDE Groups respectively, and on and Wednesday 9 July he will be heard by the Greens/EFA, GUE/NGL and EPP Groups - according to a still provisional programme. He will have to respond to questions for nearly two and a half hours. The different groups have made the conditions for their support known throughout their campaign. While the Socialists are focusing on the agenda for growth and flexibility of the stability and growth pact, the Greens are focusing on reforms for growth and the energy transition, the radical Left on the end to austerity, the Conservatives in the ECR on dynamism and modern ideas, and the Liberals in ALDE on a new Delors-agenda which would enable the opportunities of the single market to be fully unleashed. As for the EPP - the group of which Juncker is the champion and to which he will state his political priorities again - there are certain members who are flagging up reservations as to Juncker's profile for the post of Commission president.
