Brussels, 27/06/2014 (Agence Europe) - The meeting which was attended by members of the Moroccan government and the EU ambassador to Rabat, Rupert Joy, was held on Thursday 26 June for the launch of the project “Supporting the partnership for EU-Morocco mobility”. Also present were representatives of the European countries involved in bringing this project to fruition: France, Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands, Spain, Italy and Belgium.
The project offers “technical support to Moroccan policies relating to the mobilisation of Moroccans resident abroad for development, by means of enhanced cooperation between the European and Moroccan public administrations”.
In place for a period of three years, it will receive a grant of €5 million from the EU, €146,000 from the French Foreign Ministry, €125,000 from the Dutch Foreign Ministry and contributions from other member states partnering the project, in the form of making experts available, according to a press release. A memorandum of understanding was signed at the meeting, according to the European statement, which highlights the “innovative nature” of the project. (FB)
