25/04/2014 (Agence Europe) - Commission clears acquisition of Swedish oil businesses by Ireland's DCC Energy. On Thursday 24 April, the European Commission gave the go-ahead to the acquisition of Qstar Försäljning AB, Qstar AB and Card Network Solutions Europe AB, all of Sweden, by DCC Energy Ltd, of Ireland. Qstar Försäljning supplies a number of motor fuels to and from retail stations, while Qstar distributes non-retail fuels and Card Network Solutions supplies business and payment systems for the gasoline and fuel industry. All three companies are only active in Sweden. DCC Energy is active in the business segments of oil, LPG and fuel cards in a number of European countries. The Commission concluded that the proposed acquisition would not raise competition concerns, because of the parties' moderate combined market shares and the presence of a number of other strong players.
