European Ombudsman regrets lack of openness at ECB

Brussels, 10/03/2014 (Agence Europe) - On Friday 7 March, the European ombudsman, Emily O'Reilly, regretted that the European Central Bank's Governing Council has refused to publish a letter sent in November 2010 by the former head of the ECB, Jean-Claude Trichet, to the Irish finance minister. An Irish journalist requested to see the letter in December 2011, because he suspected that it put pressure on the Irish government to get it to request financial aid.
