Cybercrime management procedures finalised

Brussels, 05/02/2014 (Agence Europe) - The European Union and EFTA countries, along with the European Cybersecurity Agency (ENISA) announced the finalisation on 5 February of the permanent operational procedures (POP) for managing multi-national cyber crises. POP are recommended management methods for major cyber incidents to prevent them escalating into a crisis. They will enable European operators to understand the causes and impact of crises and reduce the risks rapidly by means of the effective action plans that are to be drawn up. The management of multinational cyber incidents requires substantial expert manpower, and the managers of operational crises are gaining in status as cyber incidents become more serious. Direct connections between incident managers and political leaders are important, explains ENISA, in terms of both strategy and policy. (IL/transl.fl)
