Three European universities in “QS Top 50 Under 50”. According to the 2014 edition of “QS Top 50 Under 50”, which provides a rating of the 50 best universities in the world that are less than 50 years old, Asia is a particularly dynamic continent: Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) is in first place, followed by Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) and Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH) in South Korea. In Europe, three universities are in the Top 10: Maastricht University (6th, Netherlands), Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona (9th, Spain) and the University of Antwerp (10th, Belgium). These listings are similar to the international QS University Ranking, published every year in the autumn, which creates an annual rating of universities in the world according to different criteria.
