EPP welcomes new constitution and end of political deadlock

Brussels, 03/02/2014 (Agence Europe) - Led by its president, Joseph Daul, and deputy president, Vito Bonsignore, the EPP Group at the European Parliament sent a message last Thursday Tunisia following the creation of a transition government. The group welcomes the major step of the adoption of the new.

Daul and Bonsignore see this outcome as a “message of hope and of relief” and express the more specific hope of a date for the forthcoming elections. “We support the efforts of the prime minister”, declare the two leaders of the EPP. They add that “the Tunisian example is full of hope. The other nations calling for reforms may draw inspiration from the Tunisians and follow in their footsteps”. In their view, the new Tunisian constitution paves “the way for a new era of stability, which will be reflected in terms of economic growth and improved living conditions for the citizens” (our translation).
