Brussels, 29/11/2013 (Agence Europe) - Annual inflation in the eurozone stood at 0.9% in November, according to preliminary estimates issued by the EU's statistical office, Eurostat, on Friday 29 November.
European Commission spokesperson Chantal Hughes said there is no risk of deflation at the moment because inflation remains in positive figures. In October, eurozone inflation reached the record low of 0.7%, but increased slightly in November, although still well below what the European Central Bank views as an acceptable level. The ECB's monetary policy aims to keep inflation close to but below 2%.
The main components in inflation in November were food, drink and tobacco (1.6%), services (1.5%) and non-energy goods (0.3%). Energy prices fell by 1.1%. (MB/transl.fl)
