Concerned by reports government ministry buildings were occupied during demonstrations in Bangkok, Thailand, on 25 November, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton called, the following day, on all parties to respect the rule of law and to abide by democratic principles. She also appealed to all concerned to avoid escalation and to resolve differences through peaceful means, the spokesman said. Demonstrators calling for the Thai prime minister to stand down gained entry to the Foreign Ministry and the Finance Ministry, and threatened to do the same at others. (CG/transl.jl)
