15/10/2013 (Agence Europe) - Strong backing for French candidate Danièle Nouy to head new bank supervisory committee. Speaking after the Eurogroup meeting on Monday 14 October, French economy minister Pierre Moscovici said that France was clearly backing the very strong candidacy of Daniele Nouy to become the chair of the bank supervisory committee to be created at the European Central Bank (ECB) by the autumn of next year to hive off bank supervision from monetary policy. Candidates have until Monday 21 October to apply to the ECB, which will submit a shortlist to the European Parliament's economic and monetary affairs committee so that it can hold hearings of the various candidates and express its views by December.
