Brussels, 14/10/2013 (Agence Europe) - Morocco is preparing for the negotiation of the agriculture chapter of the DCFTA (deep and comprehensive free-trade agreement) with a series of consultations, organised by the Agriculture Ministry with the farming sector, on the draft texts proposed by the EU.
“This initiative has been put in place because of the importance of the chapters and what is potentially at stake for the agriculture sector in the current context of common agricultural policy (CAP) reform, particularly the chapter on marketing standards envisaged in the common market organisation”, says a press release (our translation) from the Moroccan Agriculture and Fisheries Ministry. Rabat highlights that the DCFTA will be an integral part of the Morocco-EU association agreement and that it focuses on regulatory convergence with the acquis communautaire in areas related to marketing of products. It targets non-tariff barriers, health and plant health measures, intellectual property rights and state aid to the sector. (FB/transl.fl)
