Brussels, 03/10/2013 (Agence Europe) - The Commission would like to see review by the member states of the some 740 regulated professions in the EU, and this is an excellent initiative in the view of Constance Le Grip (EPP, France). Responding to the Commission's presentation of its communication on regulated professions, Le Grip says that it is part of broader work on the recognition of professional qualifications in Europe which will facilitate the mobility of workers and, with Europeans expressing their desire to work abroad, will help with simpler procedures. She speaks mainly of young people, 53% of whom say they are ready or keen to go and work in another European country. The review of regulated professions could, then, help in the fight against unemployment. For this, member states will have to show “greater transparency”. It has been one of Parliament's recurrent demands to increase the mobility of professionals in the EU. The Christian Democrats would like to see this initiative integrated into the internal market area of the European semester. (MD/transl.fl)
