EXTERNAL ACTION / (ae) bosnia-herzegovina

24/09/2013 (Agence Europe) - EU concerned about freedom of press. On 23 September, highlighting that the recent attacks against journalists - arson in the offices of Slobodna Bosna in Sarajevo, and offensive graffiti against a journalist from BHT in Mostar - “are a real cause for concern”, the spokesperson from the EU delegation to Bosnia-Herzegovina, Andy McGuffie, strongly condemned all attacks against journalists and the media, and called for all perpetrators to be identified as soon as possible. “Journalists must be able to perform their work in full safety”, McGuffie added. He reiterated that freedom of expression is a key indicator of a country's readiness to become part of the EU - “we are closely monitoring the situation in the media sector in Bosnia-Herzegovina”.
