11/09/2013 (Agence Europe) - Russians make up a third of Bank of Cyprus (BoC) management board. Six of the eighteen elected members of the new BoC management board will be Russian or Ukrainian, ten will be Cypriot and two places remain to be filled. “A decision imposed by the Eurogroup led to this situation”, said a Cypriot diplomat on Wednesday 11 September, noting that Cyprus has worked closely with Russia for a long time. Forty-seven and a half percent of deposits of over €100,000 at the BoC have been converted into shares. The same source said that it was not true that most money in Cypriot banks is Russian - only a third is Russian. (EL/transl.fl)
