11/09/2013 (Agence Europe) - Studies continue into decline in bee populations. The Commission has earmarked EU co-funding of around €1.84 million to extend by an extra year (2013-2014) the monitoring studies carried out in 2012-2013 into losses in bee colonies. The money will help member states which are taking part in these investigations on a voluntary basis. The aim of these studies is to create better understanding of the extent and reasons for honeybee colony losses. (LC/transl.fl)
