Industrial producer prices stable in June

Brussels, 02/08/2013 (Agence Europe) - The industrial producer price index remained stable in the eurozone in June 2013 compared with May 2013, after a 0.3% fall in May, according to figures released on Friday 2 August by the European Union's statistical office, Eurostat.

In June 2013 compared with June 2012, industrial producer prices rose by 0.3% in the eurozone.

Prices across the whole of industry remained stable in June, as they also did within the energy sector.

In retail, the prices of intermediate goods fell by 0.2%, the prices of durable consumer goods remained stable and the prices of non-durable consumer goods rose by 0.3%.

Among the eurozone countries for which figures are available, the biggest price falls were recorded in the Netherlands (-0.4%) and Austria (-0.3%). The biggest increases were in Estonia (6.7%) and to a lesser extent, in Italy and Malta (both 4%). Prices remained stable in Germany, Spain, Cyprus, Slovenia and Finland.

In the European Union as a whole, industrial producer prices remained stable in June, but increased by 0.6% in June 2013 compared with June 2012. (LC/transl.fl)
