02/08/2013 (Agence Europe) - Sustainable production of pangasius. The project for building a sustainable supply chain of pangasius in Vietnam, for a cost of €2.4 million (including €1.9 million granted by the European Union) was launched in Ho Chi Minh City on Friday 2 August. The project brings together four partners - the Vietnam National Cleaner Production Centre (VNPC), the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) in Vietnam and Austria, so as to support the sustainable production of Vietnamese pangasius and improve its competitiveness on the world market. The EU, which is the biggest consumer market for Vietnamese pangasius, will support Vietnam in the farming, feeding, processing and marketing of these products. The project will be implemented for four years until 2017. (LC/transl.fl)
