Brussels, 04/07/2013 (Agence Europe) - The EU special representative for the Sahel region, Michel Reveyrand-de Menthon, has, since Wednesday 3 July, been visiting Morocco to discuss the regional and international response to the crisis in the Sahel and the role that Morocco may play in the stabilisation of that zone, an official source indicates. The European envoy feels Morocco should be involved, given the support it could provide in the establishment of peace and stability in the Sahel-Sahara strip, he said.
Ambassador Reveyrand-de Menthon, a French diplomat, already has experience of the region in question, especially in his capacity as French ambassador to Mali. He was officially appointed EU special representative in April 2013 for an initial one-year term of office. (FB/transl.jl)
