Brussels, 14/06/2013 (Agence Europe) - The organisation of what in theory is the final round of talks on reform of the common agricultural policy (CAP) is still subject to debate. The last three-way meeting ahead of the 24-26 June Agriculture Council in Luxembourg will take place in Brussels on Thursday 20 June.
The Irish Presidency of the Council of the EU is planning to begin the Agriculture Council in Luxembourg on Sunday 23 June with trilateral meetings between the Presidency, EU Agriculture Commissioner Dacian Ciolos and individual farm ministers, then to alternate meetings of the Agriculture Council and meetings with the European Parliament delegation until Wednesday morning. The EP delegation has not yet decided, however, whether it will attend the meetings in Luxembourg. It is expected to decide on 18 June. A three-way meeting would then be convened on the Wednesday (in either Luxembourg or Brussels) to conclude the compromise deal. (LC/transl.fl)
