EXTERNAL ACTION / (ae) united states

29/05/2013 (Agence Europe) - French parliament wants special treatment for defence in EU-US free trade. In a resolution adopted on 28 May, parliamentarians from the European affairs committee in the French National Assembly gave their support to a “balanced” transatlantic agreement. They call for a balanced opening of public procurement and official recognition for public services in the agreement, and they ask the European Commission to guarantee that the environment and public health will be highly protected. The French parliamentarians argue for the cultural exception and the exclusion of audiovisual services, and they call for special treatment for the defence and agriculture sectors. Lastly, they call for more bilateral cooperation against tax evasion. (EH/transl.fl)
