Brussels, 29/05/2013 (Agence Europe) - After a conference organised in Dublin last week, the Irish Presidency of the Council of Ministers published a 10-point declaration to promote greater innovation in the European Union. The “Open Innovation 0.2” conference illustrated the advantages of new technologies and innovation for promoting growth and job creation in Europe. “The Dublin Innovation Declaration” calls for a common definition for modern innovation systems and the practical implementation of related activities. The declaration also calls for innovation to be placed within a greater European eco-system, no longer be exclusively restricted to the European Research Area. The declaration also seeks to illustrate that failure can be a source of encouragement for future research. Finally, it calls for much wider-scale collaboration between citizens, the business community, academia and governments to create a “European innovation strategy” on firm foundations. (IL/transl.fl)
