25/04/2013 (Agence Europe) - Ireland in hot water over internal market electricity directive. On 25 April, the Commission sent Ireland another reasoned opinion demanding that it fully transpose the “electricity” directive, 2009/72/EC, contained in the third legislative package for the liberalisation of the internal energy market. This should have been fully transposed into national law by 3 March 2011. This new reasoned opinion comes on top of the one sent to Ireland in June last year and clarifies the Commission's opinion regarding the transposition of provisions on unbundling. If the country fails to meet its obligations in the next two months, it could be taken to the European Court of Justice. (EH/transl.fl)
