Brussels, 25/04/2013 (Agence Europe) - Commenting on the talks to introduce an EU-wide savings guarantee scheme, Germany's chancellor said in Dresden on Thursday 25 April: “The German government rejects a unified European deposit insurance - at least for the foreseeable future”. Inter-institutional EU talks on greater harmonisation of national savings guarantee systems are currently in deadlock over solidarity between different countries' schemes when it comes to bailing out savers with up to €100,000 in an account in a failed bank.
