Brussels, 03/04/2013 (Agence Europe) - At the end of a meeting on Wednesday 3 April with the Czech prime minister, Petre Necas (see other article), European Commission president José Manuel Barroso indicated that the Commission was currently analysing the complaint submitted at the end of March by the main Czech energy company, CEZ, involving its problems in Bulgaria.
In a reference to a previous meeting between the Commissioner for energy, Günter Oettinger and the Bulgarian authorities, Barroso explained that his institution will ensure that, “all the rules of the internal market will be respected”. He explained that at present, they were still analysing and assessing the complaints made by CEZ.
CEZ is accused of having breached Bulgarian law governing subcontracting in public markets. It may be subject to criminal proceedings, as indicated by the Bulgarian judiciary on Wednesday, according to a report by the Bloomberg agency. The Bulgarian regulator has begun proceedings to withdraw the trading licence of the Czech company. (MB/transl.fl)
