Brussels, 26/02/2013 (Agence Europe) - On 26 February in Brussels, Benedikt Weibel former CEO of the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) and Dr Johannes Nicolin, Technical Director, AAE Holding AG (technical achievements) were awarded the European Railway Award. The Association of the European Rail Industry (UNIFE) awarded these prizes for political achievements and technical achievements respectively. European Commissioner for Transport Siim Kallas opened the ceremony and declared that “Europe's railways are on the brink of perhaps the most radical change in their history…we need now to take some radical decisions to restructure Europe's railway market to encourage innovation and the provision of better services”.
